MNU Sweeps Baker

The HAAC win streak is up to 25 after a sweep of Baker before a raucous crowd at MNU on Thursday. The scores were 25-22, 25-20, and 26-24. In all 3 sets, Baker controlled the first several points, forcing the Pioneers to play from behind. But in all 3 sets, MNU ended with a run. MNU trailed 19-22 in the first set before rattling off 6 straight points to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The second set was tight throughout, as neither team took more than a 3-point lead until the Pioneers won the final 5 points to win 25-20. Baker led the third set 24-22 and appeared ready to send the match to the fourth, but a rotation error started a 4-point run for MNU and the match ended in a sweep.

Sofija Berezovska had a match-high 13 kills and 8 digs. The offense was spread nicely as Lauma Knupke (8), Zoraida Heredia (7), Taylor Cowan (7), Emily Hester (6), and McKenzie Hayes (6) contributed with a handful of kills each. Becca Powers (23) and Rachel Kater (20) handled the assists. And Tashley Snyder (23) and Heredia (18) had double-digit digs.

MNU is 12-8 (4-0 HAAC). The next match is Tuesday at home vs. Central Methodist (7-13, 1-3) at 7:00.
