Nick Syrie dished out an MNU-record 20 assists in a 90-65 victory over Graceland on Saturday. After a sloppy opening 4 minutes, the score was tied at 4, but the Pioneers scored the next 8 points to take control of the game and they never gave it up. The lead got as high as 19 in the first half, and MNU took a 46-29 lead into the locker room. Syrie recorded a season-high 13 assists by halftime.
Graceland scored the first 4 points of the second half to get within 13, but that was a close as they got as MNU maintained a 20-point lead for most of the half. Syrie continued to rack up assists and his record-breaking 19th came on a
Conner Langrehr 3-pointer with 10 minutes remaining in the game. The MNU assist record was 18 by current assistant coach
Matt Keeley at Baker in December of 2003. Syrie left the game for good at the 7-minute mark as MNU cruised to victory.
Nate Launius led all scorers with 16 points.
Luke Thomas had 15 points and 9 rebounds.
