Thomas' Huge Game Leads MNU over Avila

Luke Thomas had MNU's first 20-point 20-rebound game in 5 years as MNU blew out Avila 101-84 on Thursday. Danny Hawkins had the last 20-20 game in January of 2009. Thomas also became the 6th Pioneer to reach 1,000 career rebounds and moved to 5th all time at MNU. His 1008 rebounds passes Adam Utz (1006) and sits behind Darin Meyer (1558), Danny Hawkins (1417), Dan Mills (1206), and Dan Peterson (1073).

MNU used a 9-0 run in the first half to seize control of the game. A 10-point halftime lead was pushed to 15 early in the second half, and it got as high as 27 before MNU cruised to the finish. The big stat of the game was at the free throw line, where MNU was 34-43 (79%) and Avila was 16-34 (47%).

Thomas was 8-11 from the floor and 8-10 from the line for 24 points, 21 rebounds, and 4 assists. Nick Syrie had 16 points, 9 assists, and 3 steals. Nate Launius was perfect from the floor and 6-7 from the line for 15 points. Justin Randall had 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks. David Clark had 11 points and 6 rebounds. And Conner Langrehr had 10 point off the bench.
