Luke Thomas had 20 points apiece in MNU's 86-77 victory over Peru State on Thursday. Peru jumped out to a 9-3 lead, but the Pioneers dominted the final minutes of the half to take an 11-point lead to the locker room.
MNU seemed to have the game wrapped up, holding a 15-point lead with 6 minutes remaining. But Peru scored the next 11 points as the Pioneers missed shots and turned the ball over. A bucket by
Luke Thomas and 2 free throws from
Nate Launius stopped the bleeding and got the lead back to 8 with 2 minutes left, but the Bobcats made another push and got within 3 in the final minute. MNU hit 8 straight free throws down the stretch to claim the victory.
Luke Thomas had 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Nick Syrie had 20 points and 7 assists.
Nate Launius went 8-8 from the line for 12 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
David Clark recorded 12 points.
