Box Score The Pioneers dropped to 0-2 after a 33-9 defeat at the hands of #11 Missouri Valley on Saturday. MNU's opening drive was a 3-and-out, but the Pioneer defense returned the favor and forced a Valley punt. The punt return was fumbled, however, and the Vikings capitalized with a 64-yard touchdown pass on the next play. Valley started the second quarter with a 12-play drive resulting in a field goal, then ended the quarter with a 13-play 89-yard touchdown drive to go to the locker room with a 17-0 lead.
The second half was more of the same as MNU fumbled another punt and Valley quickly reached the end zone to take a 24-0 lead.
Michael Brewer got the Pioneers on the board with a 36-yard field goal, but Valley answered with a 3-play 75-yard touchdown drive to put the game out of reach. MNU got into the end zone late in the game, but the point after was blocked and returned for 2 Valley points to account for the 33-9 final.
Trent Hedlund was 18-29 for 227 yards.
Michael Lindsey caught 5 passes for 17 yards.
LaDon Hudson had 3 catches for 95 yards. And
Greg Gates gained 44 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
