For the first time since 2006, the Pioneers are 0-1. #10 MNU traveled to #17 Tabor and dropped a 21-13 contest Saturday night.
MNU's opening drive resulted in an interception which led to a Tabor touchdown. Neither team scored again in the first quarter, but MNU completed a 15-play 69-yard drive with a game-tying touchdown to open the second. Two Michael Brewer field goals put MNU up 13-7 at halftime, but the Pioneers would not score again.
Tabor scored a touchdown in each of the next 2 quarters while the Pioneers missed several opportunities to get on the board. Tabor finally put the game away with a 7-minute 14-play drive to run out the clock, and MNU's last gasp went begging in the final seconds.
QB Trent Hedlund was 15-36 for 174 yards and a touchdown. RB Greg Gates had 27 carries for 103 yards. WR LaDon Hudson caught 7 passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. LB Joe Camacho recorded 16 tackles. And DB J.D. Wood had 11 tackles.
The Pioneers are 0-1. The next game is the HAAC opener at #2 Missouri Valley (0-1) at 6:00.
