The Pioneer women's soccer team dominated the 2013 opening match with a 4-0 victory over AIB College of Business. MNU controlled pace and possession in the first half, and in the 31st minute, Ellaisa Marquis took a feed from Breanna Fitzgerald and broke through the Eagle defense to beat the keeper for a 1-0 lead.
It was more of the same in the second half with MNU keeping the ball in the AIB zone most of the time. The floodgates opened when in the 63rd minute, Kalyn Pfaff took a cross from Emmie Farrar and finished in the back of the net. One minute later, Breanna Fitzgerald rifled a shot to the lower right corner from 25 yards for a 3-0 lead. In the 83rd minute, Marissa Harris finished a scramble in front of the net and the Pioneers won 4-0.
The Pioneers are 1-0-0. The next game is Tuesday at Tabor (0-0-0) at 5:00.
