#9 MNU held off Missouri Valley 73-64 on Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the HAAC Conference Tournament. The Pioneers jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never trailed for their school-record 18th consecutive victory. The lead was stretched as high at 18 in the first half as
Rachel Boan (10 points),
Kiley Herold (7 rebounds), and
Navia Palu (5 assists) led the team.
In the second half, a 20-7 run by the Vikings get them within 6 of the Pioneers with 7:30 to play, but MNU regained control and pushed the lead back to double digits before cruising to the finish.
Rachel Boan had a game-high 19 points while pulling in 5 rebounds.
Daria Sprew was 5-8 from the field for 15 points and 8 rebounds. And
Navia Palu had 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.
The Pioneers are 28-2 (17-1 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at home vs. Baker (20-11, 12-6) at 7:00. The winner faces Benedictine or CMU for the tourney title at 7:00 on Tuesday. The Pioneers swept Baker in the regular season by a total of 5 points.
