Highlights | The Pioneers found the end zone in their first two possessions en route to a 48-17 victory over Culver-Stockton on Saturday. MNU used large doses of Greg Gates and LaDon Hudson as the offense racked up 460 yards of offense and 7.9 yards per play. On the opening drive, Trent Hedlund led an 8-play 75-yard march capped off by a Gates 3-yard touchdown to put MNU up 7-0. After the defense forced a 3-and-out, Gates took the second play of the ensuing drive for a brilliant 40-yard rush to the end zone, and MNU kept pouring it on. A Hedlund to Michael Lindsey touchdown pass put the Pioneers up 21-0, and Hedlund found Hudson for another score on the next drive. The Pioneers capped off the first half with a Gates 36-yard touchdown run to head to the locker room up 35-3.
Michael Brewer's 32-yard field goal started the second half, and Gates found the end zone for the fourth time on the next drive to put the Pioneers up 45-10. Brewer nailed a 52-yard field goal to close out the scoring late in the fourth, and MNU's most dominant game of the season came to a close.
Trent Hedlund was 18-24 with 210 yards and 2 touchdowns. Greg Gates rushed 17 times for 189 yards and 4 touchdowns. LaDon Hudson caught 9 balls for 113 yards and a touchdown. And Michael Brewer went 2-3 on field goals with makes from 32 and 52 yards (his miss from 34 yards was his first miss since Week 1). On the other side of the ball, Joe Camacho led the team with 10 tackles, including a sack. And Donte Wade recorded 9 tackles, including 2 tackles for loss and a sack.
