WBB Stats | Daria Sprew put up a career-high 19 points in an 86-68 victory over Park on Tuesday. The junior also pulled down a game-high 8 rebounds as #8 MNU moved to 4-0. The Pioneers jumped out to a 20-10 lead after 10 minutes and Park never got within 6 for the rest of the game. Park faced a 15-point deficit for most of the second half and couldn't make a run.
Sprew had 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Kelsey Balcom was 7-11 for 16 points. Rachel Boan had 12 points. Megan Balcom had 10 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Navia Palu had a season-high 9 assists. Brooke Reinhart added 9 points and 3 rebounds off the bench. And Kyleesha Weston had 8 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals off the bench.
MNU is 4-0. The next game is Friday vs. Northwestern in Atchison, KS at 5:30 for a Benedictine-hosted weekend classic. (The Saturday game has been moved to an 11:00 tipoff.)
MBB Stats | #15 MNU controlled most of the second half but had to hang on at the end in a 69-66 victory at #24 Park on Tuesday. In the first half, the Pioneers trailed by 10 with under 6 minutes left, but MNU went on a 15-4 run to close the half and head to the locker room with a 1-point lead. MNU carried that momentum into the second half and built a 13-point lead with under 9 minutes to play. The Pioneers still led by 11 with under 5 minutes left when Park made a run. Four MNU turnovers contributed to an 11-2 run to get Park within 2. But Justin Randall blocked Park's final shot and Nate Launius sealed the game at the free throw line to give MNU the narrow victory.
MNU is 7-1. The next game is Tuesday, December 3 at Baker (2-2) at 7:30 to open HAAC play.
