Pioneers Sweep Tip-Off Classic

#15 MNU started the season 2-0 after sweeping the Tip-Off classic.

Friday | Highlights
MNU recorded a school-record 137 points in a regulation game in a tune-up victory over Baptist Bible on Thursday. The Pioneers started with an 18-7 burst and increased the lead throughout the game. A 40-point halftime lead was pushed as high as 75 as the bench was emptied and MNU cruised to the finish.

Luke Thomas led all scorers with 28 points (13-15 shooting), 9 rebounds, and 3 assists in under 15 minutes of play. Conner Langrehr hit 4 three-pointers en route to 26 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Nick Syrie had 7 points, 11 assists, and 4 steals. Freshman David Nelson put up 15 points in his MNU debut. And freshman Justin Randall had 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks off the bench.

Saturday | Highlights
#15 MNU battled #21 Park to a 91-88 overtime victory on Friday. It took almost 3 minutes for either team to score, but the Pioneers finally broke through and built an early 5-point lead. The lead was 7 with 2 minutes left in the first half when Park went on a 16-5 run to take a 4-point lead. MNU answered with a 9-0 run to retake the lead, and that's when the 3-point barrage began. MNU's Conner Langrehr and Park's Kyle Enloe traded several bombs from beyond the arc, and when the battle ended, the teams were tied at 81 heading to overtime.

In the overtime, Park took a quick 4-point lead, but a Nate Launius 3-pointer tied the game with 2 minutes remaining. The contest was decided at the free throw line down the stretch, where the Pioneers made enough to hang on for a 3-point victory.

Luke Thomas shot 50% from the floor to record 31 points and 16 rebounds. Conner Langrehr hit 6 threes for 30 points and 4 assists. And Nick Syrie had 14 points, 12 assists, and 2 steals.

The Pioneers are 2-0. The next game is Thursday at home at 8:00 vs. Ozark Christian in the Jeff Uphaus Memorial Classic.
