The Pioneers recorded a signature win with a 2-1 victory over previously-unbeaten #18 Avila on Wednesday. The 12th victory is the best in program history. In the 33rd minute, Kelli Reid sent in a corner kick which was deflected back to her, she crossed a ball into the box where senior Milica Mihajlovic put a header into the net for a 1-0 lead. In the 64th minute, Reid got another assist when she sent a ball over the defense to the feet of Kalyn Pfaff who beat the keeper for a 2-0 lead.
Avila cut the lead in half with a goal in the 73th minute, but the Eagles could not get much pressure in the final 15 minutes and MNU held on for the victory.
The Pioneers are 12-2-3 (3-1-2 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at Benedictine (9-5-2, 4-2-0) at 5:00.
