Box Score The #6 Pioneers dropped just their second match of the season in front of a raucous crowd at #14 Park on Tuesday. MNU won the first set 26-24, but dropped the second set 25-21. Park carried the momentum into Set 4 where they destroyed the Pioneers 25-12. MNU regrouped to hang with the Pirates in the fourth set and finally won 27-25. In the fifth set, MNU took an early 3-0 lead and held an 8-5 lead at the switch. But from there it was all Park as the Pirates went on a 10-2 run to close the set and take the match.
Zoraida Heredia recorded a double double with 13 kills and 10 digs.
Taryn Salum also had a double double with 35 assists and 12 digs. And
Vladi Kopanarova and
Britney Grittman had 5 blocks apiece. Park's Wanessa Siqueira had an unheard of 31 kills on 83 attacks to lead the Pirates. Both defenses were on display as Park hit .205 (.274 on the season) and MNU hit a season-low .089 (.272 on the season).
The Pioneers are 20-2 (6-0 HAAC). The next match is Saturday at home vs. Peru State (18-11, 1-3) at 2:00. It is MNU's final regular season home match of 2013.
