The Pioneers went to Graceland and picked up a pair of double-digit victories over the Yellowjackets on Saturday.
In the women's game,
Kiley Herold set the tone early as she scored 8 of MNU's first 12 points as the Pioneers started with a 10-0 run. Graceland got the deficit down to 4 before
Megan Balcom hit back-to-back threes to push the lead back to double digits. MNU went to the locker room leading by 18 and kept a double digit lead throughout the second half for a 76-58 victory.
Herold led the Pioneers with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Nine other Pioneers recorded at least 5 points as another balanced attack downed the Yellowjackets.
Navia Palu and
Daria Sprew had 3 assists apiece. And
Rachel Boan racked up 5 steals.
The Pioneers are 20-2 (10-1 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at Central Methodist (18-4, 7-4) at 2:00. In December CMU came to Olathe and handed MNU their only conference loss.
Conner Langrehr and
Brandon Newton both recorded season highs in scoring in MNU's 90-71 victory over Graceland. The Pioneers scored first, never trailed, and quickly built a 20-11 lead. Langrehr poured in 15 points in the first half as MNU went to the locker room up by 18. MNU maintained a 20-point lead for most of the half and cruised to the victory.
Langrehr was 11-16 from the field including 4-7 from beyond the arc for a season-high 26 points.
Brandon Newton went 6-8 including a three to put up a season-high 17 points.
Luke Thomas recorded his 12th double double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Rustin Dowd had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. And
Jacob French had 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Pioneers are 17-6 (9-2 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at Central Methodist (13-10, 6-5) at 4:00.
