Pioneers Dominate Vikings

Box and Play by Play The Pioneers took an early lead and kept extending in a 63-42 victory over Missouri Valley in the opening round of the HAAC Conference Tournament on Thursday. MNU started the game on an 8-2 run to take control, and opened up a 13-point lead before leading by 12 at halftime. The Pioneers stiffling defense allowed just 15 first half points as Valley shot just 23% from the field. The defense stayed strong throughout the game as they increased the lead as high as 25 in the second half and allowed their second lowest point total of the season.

CJ Wesemann was the only player on either team to reach double figures as she recorded 10 points. Daria Sprew and Kristie Tiegreen both had 8 points and 4 rebounds. Sophia Stockton contributed 8 points off the bench. And Janeè Garza had 7 assists and 4 steals.

The Pioneers are 23-8 (15-3 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at home vs. 4-seed Benedictine (18-12, 12-6) at 7:00.
