Pioneers Split vs. Central Methodist

| Box Score 2 The #20 Pioneers had their 11-game winning streak snapped in a 80-68 defeat vs. Central Methodist on Saturday. CMU scored the first points of the game and never trailed. The Eagles led by as many as 7 in the first half as MNU struggled to find their rythym. The Pioneers looked to close the gap early in the second half but CMU started on a 9-2 run to put MNU in a big hole. A 9-3 run by the Pioneers in the middle of the second half brought them within 4, but CMU answered immediately with a 7-0 run to get the lead back to double digits.

Kristie Tiegreen had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Daria Sprew added 14 points and 6 rebounds. And Kiley Herold had 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

The Pioneers are 17-7 (10-2 HAAC). The next game is a battle for 1st place in the conference; Thursday at Avila (16-7, 10-2) at 5:30.

In the men's game, four Pioneers scored at least 15 points in an 86-68 victory over the Eagles. MNU opened the game with a 10-3 run and never trailed. The Pioneers kept the quick tempo throughout the contest and the Eagles were unable to match the scoring pace as MNU took a 5-point lead to the locker room. CMU got the lead down to 4 points early in the second half, but a 9-0 run put the Pioneers up double digits and they were able to maintain that lead for the rest of the game.

Rustin Dowd led the offense with 19 points. He also handed out 4 assists. Conner Langrehr added 17 points. Luke Thomas had 16 points, a career-high 18 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Jacob French had 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. And Nick Syrie had 4 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals.

The Pioneers are 17-7 (11-1 HAAC). The next game is Thursday at Avila (15-8, 8-4) at 7:30.
