MNU Basketball Teams Both Reach 20 Wins

| Box Score 2 Box and Play by Play | In the women's game, 3 reserves scored double figures as the Pioneers picked up a 67-61 victory at Missouri Valley. The win kept the Pioneers atop the HAAC tied with Avila with 2 games remaining. In the first half, the Pioneers used an 11-2 run to close the period and take an 8-point lead to the locker room. MNU built the lead to 16 in the second half before the Vikings tried to mount a comeback. The lead was whittled all the way down to 4 points with 30 seconds left, but late free throws by CJ Wesemann iced the game and preserved the win.

Sophia Stockton led the Pioneers with 12 points off the bench. She also had 8 rebounds and a game-high 4 assists. CJ Wesemann had 11 points off the bench. And Kristie Tiegreen recorded a double-double off the bench with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kiley Herold was the only starter in double figures as she contributed 10 points.

The Pioneers are 20-8 (13-3 HAAC). The next game is Senior Night - Thursday at home vs. Evangel (9-16, 7-9) at 5:30.

Box and Play by Play | In the men's game, the Pioneers used a 12-0 run to start the game to control the first half. Valley fought back and actually took the lead with under a minute to play, but a quick 5-0 MNU run gave the Pioneers a 4-point lead at halftime. The MNU lead was down to 1 before a 24-1 MNU run put the game out of reach. During the run, the Pioneer defense limited the Vikings to just 1 free throw while the offense kept pushing. MNU cruised in the final minutes for the 17-point victory.

Rustin Dowd led the way with a game-high 25 points on 9-14 shooting. Conner Langrehr used 4 threes and a 7-13 performance from the field to reach 20 points. Luke Thomas recorded another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Nick Syrie handed out 7 assists. And Jacob French contributed 6 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.

The Pioneers are 20-8 (14-2 HAAC). The next game is Thursday at home vs. Evangel (21-7, 13-3) at 7:30. The winner of this game will most likely capture the top seed in the conference tournament.
