Pioneers Pick Up Tough Road Win

Box Score Stats | It took 90 seconds to get the first basket, but once #9 MNU and Columbia scored, they didn't stop in the Pioneers' 100-89 road victory on Thursday. It marked the first time since February of 2007 that MNU reached the century mark. Both teams shot over 50% in the barn-burner, but the difference was at each line: MNU shot 48% from 3-point land (10-21) and 85% from the free throw line (28-33) while the Cougars went 1-15 from beyond the arc and 22-33 from the line.

Columbia took a 6-point lead after 10 minutes of play, but a 13-0 run by the Pioneers turned the game around and MNU never looked back. The lead was built to 20 in the second half and the Pioneers cruised to the finish.

Kelsey Balcom led the Pioneers with 15 points and a game-high 6 rebounds. Megan Balcom hit four of eight 3-pointers for 14 points. Ebonee Bell was 3-4 from beyond the arc for 13 points. Rachel Boan recorded 13 points. Kendra Flemming joined them in double figures with 10. And Navia Palu had 9 points and a game-high 7 assists.

The Pioneers are 10-0 (2-0 HAAC). The next game is the HAAC Game of the Week, Saturday at home vs. Central Methodist (10-1, 1-1) at 2:00.
