Highlights | The 18-ranked Pioneers advanced to the Final Site of the NAIA National Championship after an Opening Round sweep of St. Thomas-Houston on Saturday. MNU will participate in Pool Play with one match each day from November 27-29 at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena in Sioux City, IA.
MNU jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead in the first set and maintained control throughout, winning easily 25-13. The second set was sloppy for both teams, filled with unforced errors and bad serves, but MNU took control late. The score was tied at 14 when the Pioneers went on an 11-4 run to close the set 25-18 and go up 2-0 in the match. MNU used a 4-point and a 7-point run in the third set to build the lead, take the set 25-17, and sweep the match.
Linjun Ji had 11 kills and 8 digs.
Molly Brewster had 9 kills and 7 digs.
Luka Gomes had 5 kills and 6 blocks. And
Taryn Salum had 23 assists and 2 aces.
MNU is 25-4. If they win their pool, they will advance to further rounds from November 30 through December 1.
