Daria Sprew reached double figures in MNU's 68-64 road victory at Beneditcine on Saturday. The victory kept the Pioneers at the top of the conference after 5 games played. In the first half, the Ravens led most of the period, but the Pioneers tied the game at 28 with 3 minutes left. The Ravens closed the half with an 11-2 run to take a 9-point lead into the locker room. MNU came out strong in the second half and took the lead with 13 minutes remaining. The lead was increased to 9 before the Ravens stormed back to tie the game at the 3-minute mark.
Kiley Herold's bucket on the ensuing possession gave MNU the lead, and clutch free throws from
CJ Wesemann maintained the lead and iced the game.
Herold had 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
CJ Wesemann hit 4 three-pointers as she poured in 17 points.
Daria Sprew added 14 points and 8 rebounds.
The Pioneers are 11-5 (4-1 HAAC). The next game is Thursday the 12th at home vs. Baker (4-12, 2-3) at 5:30.

Luke Thomas' career-high 32 points and 14 rebounds was not enough to overcome the effort of the Ravens in MNU's 72-71 loss at Benedictine on Saturday. The loss drops the Pioneers into a tie for second in the conference. In the first half, the Raven defense frustrated the high powered Pioneer attack and led by as many as 11 before MNU reeled them back to 6 at halftime. The Pioneers quickly made it a one-possession game early in the second half, but the Ravens maintained the lead and slowly built it back to 8 with 5 minutes remaining. MNU went on a 6-0 run to get within 2, then finally tied the game at 67 with 2 minutes left.
Luke Thomas then gave MNU their first lead since the 10:46 mark in the first half with a layup, but the Ravens nailed a 3 to take the lead on their next possession.
Luke Thomas scored again with 26 seconds left, but the Ravens took the lead for good with a driving basket with under 5 seconds left. MNU could not score again and fell by one.
Thomas had 32 points and 14 rebounds.
Rustin Dowd added 10 points and 2 assists. And
Jacob French had 5 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.
The Pioneers are 10-7 (4-1 HAAC). The next game is Thursday the 12th at home vs. Baker 11-5 (4-1) at 7:30.
