The Pioneers fell 54-46 in the first round of the HAAC conference tourney at Avila on Wednesday. The Pioneers played well in the first half and were able to build a 7-point lead late in the period. But a 13-0 run by the Eagles turned the game around and gave Avila a 6-point lead. The Pioneers stayed in the game and closed the gap to 1, but the Eagles put the game away with a 17-2 run to go up by 16 with 4 minutes remaining. The Pioneers closed the gap to 7 in the final minute but could not get any closer as Avila moved on to the semifinal round.
Kiley Herold had 12 points and 5 rebounds.
Rachel Boan added 11 points and 2 steals. And
Beth Keeley hit a 3-pointer and had 2 assists in 3 minutes in her first action of the season.
The Pioneers finish the season 12-19.
