Pioneer Basketball celebrated Senior Night with 2 victories over Baker University on Thursday. Early in the women's game, neither team could find the basket with any regularity and MNU led 4-3 after 5 minutes. The Pioneers finally found some offensive rhythm and went on a 7-0 run to take a 7-point lead late in the half. Baker was able to close the gap and went to the locker room trailing by 3. The Pioneers opened the second half with another 7-0 run and were able to maintain that 10-point lead for the rest of the game. The defense held Baker to 32% shooting and the Wildcats couldn't mount a comeback and MNU won 61-46.
CJ Wesemann led the offense with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists off the bench.
Sophia Stockton had 11 points, a career-high 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Kiley Herold reached double figures with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. And
Rachel Boan added 9 points and a game-high 6 assists.
The Pioneers are 11-18 (9-10 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at Culver-Stockton at 2:00.

In the men's game, the Pioneers jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never gave it up. A 10-2 run pushed the lead to 12 with 12 minutes remaining in the half, and the Pioneers took an 11-point lead to the locker room. Baker came out strong in the second half and whittled the deficif all the way down to 3 with 10 minutes remaining. The Pioneers responded with an 8-1 run sparked by a
Conner Langrehr 3-pointer and Baker never got closer than 2 possessions in the final minutes.
Sophomore
Rustin Dowd passed 1,000 career points as he scored a game-high 19. He also dished out 10 assists and had 2 steals.
Conner Langrehr added 17 points and 4 assists.
Luke Thomas added 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals off the bench. And senior
Andrew Crotty surpassed 700 career rebounds (11th all time) as he pulled down a game-high 9.
