The Pioneers travelled to Fayette, MO and lost a pair of games at Central Methodist on Monday. In the women's game, the Pioneers took a 1-point lead to the locker room, but a 14-3 CMU run to start the second half put MNU in a hole from which they could not recover. The Pioneer offense stalled for the remainder of the game and the Eagles came away with a 60-49 victory.
Sophia Stockton led the offense with 12 points off the bench. Kiley Herold had 11 points. And Kristie Tiegreen had 10 points and 6 rebounds.
In the men's game, career-highs from freshmen Conner Langrehr and Luke Thomas could not overcome the relentless scoring from CMU and the Pioneers fell 94-84. MNU shot 56% from the field but CMU shot 60% including 61% (11-18) from three-point land. The Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never relinquished it. The lead got as high as 16 points in the second half before a late MNU run got them within 6, but CMU hit enough free throws down the stretch to hang on.
Conner Langrehr had a career-high 20 points and 3 assists. Luke Thomas had his second of back-to-back career highs with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks off the bench. Lukas Weigel added 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Keith McCullough had 15 points and 5 rebounds. And Rustin Dowd reached double figures with 12 points.
The Pioneers are 12-14 (7-9 HAAC). The next game is Thursday at Evangel at 7:30.
