Pioneers Fall at Graceland

A disparity in turnovers and free throws were the key in MNU's 72-60 loss at Graceland on Thursday. The game was close in the first half as neither team took a double-digit lead. The Yellowjackets took a 5-point lead into the locker room and were able to extend to a 13-point lead with 13 minutes remaining in the game. Over the next 6 minutes, the Pioneers went on an 18-7 run to get within 2, but they couldn't get any closer as Graceland hit their free throws down the stretch.

For the game, the Pioneers committed 32 turnover while the Yellowjackets had just 6. MNU was 7-10 from the line while Graceland was 25-31.

"It's nearly impossible to win a game when you turn the ball over 26 times more than your opponent," said Coach Karen Lange. "That combined with the free throw disparity was the difference in the game."

Rachel Boan led the offense with 17 points and 5 assists. Kristie Tiegreen had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. And Kassidy Ritchel contributed 11 points and 5 rebounds.

The Pioneers are 8-16 (6-8 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at home vs. Missouri Valley at 2:00.
