The Pioneers evened their conference record with a 3-1 victory over Culver-Stockton on Saturday. The first score came on a
Courtney Wiggins header after a great cross from
Kelsey Collins. Near the end of the first half, Wiggins knocked a shot off the post and it bounced right to
Brittany Matthews, who finished in the empty net to give MNU a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Culver cut the lead in a half with a goal in the 83rd minute. But the Pioneers answered immediately when they took the kickoff straight down the middle and
Whitney Peavler scored on an assist from
Ashton Bergh. Culver pressed in the final minutes but couldn't create any scoring chances, and MNU finished with a 3-1 victory.
The Pioneers are 5-6-1 (1-1 HAAC). The next match is Wednesday at home vs. Baker (7-2, 1-1) at 1:00.
