Cody Morrow's huge game vs. #2 Lindenwood has earned him NAIA National Special Teams Player of the Week Honors. The high winds and steady rain made it no easier for Morrow, but he managed to be perfect on the day. The junior from Apache Junction, AZ was key in MNU's 26-20 victory over the Lions as he was 4-4 on field goals, 2-2 on extra points, and averaged over 50 yards per punt on Saturday.
His first field goal (28 yards) gave the Pioneers a 17-14 lead in the first half, and his 25-yard boot as time expired tied the game at 20 at halftime. Morrow tallied all the second half scoring. He gave the Pioneers a 23-20 lead with a 43-yard kick halfway through the third quarter, and finally nailed a 38-yarder on MNU's next drive to account for the 26-20 final.
He was named HAAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, and was selected by the NAIA for the national honor from the pool of conference winners. Morrow was joined by teammates
Greg Gates (offense) and
Hagen Rose (defense) with HAAC Player of the Week honors.
The Pioneers moved from #6 to #5 in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll while Lindenwood dropped from #2 to #6. The next game for the Pioneers is at #20 Benedictine on Saturday, October 2 at 2:00 PM.
