The #6 Pioneers trailed early, but quickly got straightened out and cruised to a 46-13 victory at Culver-Stockton on Saturday. The Wildcats jumped on the Pioneers with a 73-yard touchdown on their third play from scrimmage, but MNU answered with 2 touchdowns and a safety and never looked back.
Culver managed two long field goals, but RB Greg Gates, TE Juan Redmon, and LB Dantren Anderson took over the game. Gates ran for 2 touchdowns and caught another. Redmon caught 4 passes for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a career-high 62-yard strike late in the first half. Anderson was responsible for the Pioneers taking the lead in the first quarter when in one series, he made the first down tackle, the third down tackle, and blocked a punt where it was recovered for a safety. He ended up with 11 tackles including 2 sacks, and the punt block.
QB Sean Ransburg was 9-14 passing for 160 yards and 4 touchdowns. Gates led the rushing attack with 66 yards and 2 touchdowns. Redmon led the receivers with 4 catches and 98 yards, and Brandon Phillips caught 3 passes for 51 yards.
The Pioneers are 3-0. The next game is Saturday the 25th vs. #2 Lindenwood (3-0). The Lions are coming off a 45-27 home victory over #10 Missouri Valley.
