The MNU Volleyball team traveled to Orange City, IA and went 1-3 in the Red Raider Classic over the weekend. In match 1 vs. Briar Cliff, the Pioneers grabbed their first victory with a 3-0 sweep: 27-25, 27-25, 25-19. Megan Hayes led the way with 13 kills and 5 blocks.
Kimmie Kreeger had 33 assists.
Molly Brewster had 3 aces. And
Laura Hamblin had 22 digs.
The Pioneers lost their next 3 matches vs. Sioux Falls, Concordia (NE), and Doane by scores of 1-3, 1-3, and 0-3 respectively.
"This weekend's tournament had some incredible NAIA talent from across the nation," said Coach Steele. "Our 1-3 record does not indicate the talent we have on our very young squad. There were moments of very good and disciplined play. It's early in the season and we have much to still work on, but as a coaching staff, Erin [Cooper] and I are encouraged by what we saw this weekend."
At the end of the weekend,
Anna Nostrant led the way with 31 kills and 36.5 blocks.
Kimmie Kreeger had 127 assists and 6 aces. And
Laura Hamblin had 69 digs.
The 1-3 Pioneers travel to Sioux Falls, SD this weekend and will face off with Mayville State (ND), Grand View (IA), Dakota State (SD), and Northwestern (IA).
