Rexroth's Second Half Propels Pioneers

Bethany Rexroth followed her HAAC Player of the Week honor with another big game in a 65-56 victory over Central Methodist on Monday. The Pioneers struggled to get into an offensive rhythm in the first half, and found themselves trailing by as many as 8 points early in the game. MNU finally took the lead in the final minute of the first half, but trailed by 1 heading to the locker room. Central Methodist held the lead for most of the second half, and took a 7-point lead with 10 minutes remaining. But the Pioneers took control of the final 10 minutes, outscoring the Eagles 25-9 (13 from Rexroth) to close out the game.

"They outplayed us for 3/4 of the game," said Coach Olin, who picked up his 498th career victory. "But I'm proud of the way we finished."

Rexroth ended up with 28 points (24 in the 2nd half) and 10 rebounds. Beth Keeley had 13 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals. Hadleigh Meek added 10 points. And Heather Cunard had 10 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The next game is Bill Olin Appreciation Night - Thursday the 18th at home vs. Evangel (19-6, 13-3) at 5:30.
