Three Pioneers reached double figures on Tuesday, but it was not enough as MNU dropped a 71-64 contest at College of the Ozarks. The Pioneers trailed 8-2 in the opening minutes and never gained the lead. MNU was in danger of getting blown out in the first half when Ozarks took a 15-point lead. But the Pioneers went on a 15-3 run to get back in the game.
The second half was more of the same. Ozarks maintained a double-digit lead and controlled the game until a late Pioneer run cut the lead to 3 with under a minute to play. Ozarks sealed the game at the line and handed the Pioneers their second loss of the season.
Lukas Weigel had 16 points to lead the Pioneers.
Keith McCullough had 15 points and 5 rebounds. And
Marcus Butler had 14 points and 8 rebounds.
The Pioneers are 4-2. The next game is Saturday the 20th at defending NAIA D1 National Champion Oklahoma Baptist (2-1) at 4:00.
