Keith McCullough's career-best performance led the Pioneers to an 84-74 victory over Sterling on Saturday. The 6-8 junior forward shot the lights out, hitting 9 of 10 shots from the field including all 5 three-pointers he attemped. He was also a perfect 4-4 from the line to finish with 27 points. His previous high at MNU was 13.
The Pioneers started with a 6-0 run and never relinquished the lead. MNU shot 70% from the field in the half and McCullough hit four 3-pointers as MNU went to the break leading by 16. The second half was more of the same as MNU pulled away. The lead got as high as 21 points as the Pioneers continued their hot shooting. MNU shot 67% for the game while holding Sterling to 39%.
McCullough had 27 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Zsolt Lakosa had 12 points and 9 assists.
Conner Langrehr scored 11 off the bench. And
Marcus Butler reached double figures with 10 points.
The Pioneers are 4-1. The next game is Tuesday at College of the Ozarks (3-1) at 8:00.
