Pioneers Dominate Graceland

The #5 Pioneers scored early and never looked back in a 54-22 drubbing of Graceland on Saturday. Cody Morrow drilled a 31-yard field goal on the Pioneers' opening drive, and MNU never lost the lead. The only hiccup came when QB Sean Ransburg slipped in the end zone for a safety, but the Pioneers answered again and again and eventually held a 51-2 lead. The first touchdown came when Dantavious Harmon blocked a punt and Devon Hall scooped up the loose ball and took it to the end zone. The highlight of the game was a 79-yard quarterback draw which took Ransburg to the 1-yard line. James Tillman immediately punched it in and the Pioneers led 24-2. Kellen Long, Greg Gates (twice), Ransburg, and Jake Duren also found the end zone as the Pioneers rolled the Yellowjackets. Duren's touchdown came on defense as he ripped the ball loose from a running back and ran 15 yards for the score. Morrow added a career-long 52-yard field goal to complete the scoring, and Graceland managed 3 late touchdowns.

Sean Ransburg ran 9 times for 157 yards and a touchdown. He also went 5-10 passing for 99 yards and 2 touchdowns. Greg Gates and James Tillman each added a rushing touchdown. And Gates and Kellen Long had receiving touchdowns. Jake Duren led all defenders with 10 tackles, including 2 tackles for loss and a fumble recovered for a touchdown. JD Wood picked off 2 passes and had 51 return yards. And Cody Morrow had field goals from 31 and 52 yards, averaged over 40 yards per punt, hit all 6 PAT's, and had 4 touchbacks on kickoffs.

The Pioneers are 6-0. The next game is Saturday at William Jewell (2-4, 2-3 HAAC) at 1:00 PM.
