The Pioneers moved to 4-4 in the HAAC after defeating Culver-Stockton and Avila this week. In the Culver match, MNU dropped the first set before rallying to win 3-1: 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23. Megan Holick had a big offensive match and led the Pioneers with 15 kills. She added 2 aces, 9 digs, and 2 blocks. Ashley Fantazia added 11 kills. Melissa Anaya had 32 assists. Laura Hamblin had 15 digs. And Megan Hayes & Anna Nostrant had 5 blocks apiece.
The Avila match was very close, but the Pioneers came away with another 3-1 victory: 25-22, 27-29, 25-20, 28-26. Four Pioneers had double-digit kills as Anna Nostrant (18), Megan Hayes (15), Ashley Fantazia (12), and Megan Holick (10) attacked aggressively. Setter Melissa Anaya had a monster game with 58 assists. Laura Hamblin (24), Molly Brewster (14), and Becca Valdez (12) had double-digit digs. And Megan Hayes added 5 blocks.
The Pioneers are 9-18 (4-4 HAAC). The next match is Senior Night and the final home event vs. Baker (21-12, 5-3) at 7:00 PM.
