Pioneers Roll at Jewell

#5 MNU should move up in poll

In what many considered a possible trap game for the #5 Pioneers, MNU went to Liberty and quelled any thoughts of a William Jewell upset with a 29-7 victory. The Pioneers jumped on Jewell immediately when the first pass of the game was picked off by Will Griffin and returned 41 yards for a touchdown. Jewell punted on the ensuing drive, and the Pioneers scored again when Sean Ransburg connected with Austin Conyers for a 57-yard touchdown pass. After another Cardinal punt, MNU drove for 9 plays and Cody Morrow nailed a career-long 53-yard field goal. The defense held Jewell to another punt, and the Pioneers responded with a 10-play 74-yard drive which resulted in a Sean Ransburg 5-yard touchdown run, and the Pioneers didn't look back. MNU took a 26-0 lead into halftime, and cruised to a 29-7 victory.

James Tillman led the MNU rushing attack with 11 carries for 46 yards. Sean Ransburg carried 10 times for 30 yards and a touchdown, and was 8-11 throwing for 156 yards and a touchdown. Austin Conyers caught 2 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown, and Kellen Long caught 3 passes for 25 yards. Cody Morrow was 3-5 on field goals, scoring from 31, 41, and 53 yards while missing from 44 and 52.

Hagen Rose and Dantren Anderson led the defense with 5 tackles each. Rose included a 10-yard sack. Will Griffin, Taylor Lasiter, and AJ Rodriguez each recorded an interception.

#4 Morningside fell at #1 Sioux Falls, which should move the Pioneers to #4 in the Coaches Poll which comes out on Monday. MNU is 7-0. The next game is Homecoming, October 23rd vs. Evangel at 1:00 PM.
