Stats and play-by-play HERE

Ashford Johnson's 139 yards on just 14 carries led the Pioneers in a 56-13 rout of Avila on Saturday. His 9.9 yards per carry earned him HAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. With touchdowns in each of their three first-quarter possessions, MNU buried Avila early. Quarterback Tyler Herl connected with wideout Tim Richmond on an 11-yard touchdown and an 18-yard touchdown just minutes into the game. Johnson's 72-yard rushing touchdown capped off the quarter. Herl's 19-yard touchdown run was the only scoring in the first half as MNU took a 28-0 lead into the locker room.

Johnson started off the second half by finishing off a 10-play 62-yard drive with his second rushing touchdown of the game. Juan Redmon, Branden Phillips, and Marvin Hill recorded touchdowns in the second half as MNU completed the blowout.

It was new head coach Jonathan Quinn's first win for the Pioneers. "We played a complete game," said Quinn. "All sides of the ball were solid and it's a step in the right direction. We have a tough road game [at Baker] next week and this was a good prep for that.

Johnson rushed for 137 yards on 14 carries, Sean Ransburg gained 73 yards on 3 carries, Tyler Herl was 12-19 passing with 151 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Tim Richmond caught 4 passes for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Pioneers are 1-0 (1-0). The next game is Saturday at Baker (0-1) at 6:00 PM.
