Women's Soccer Wins 5-0

The MNU women's soccer team came off a solid performance against #18 Oklahoma Christian on Friday (2-2 tie) to get the win on Saturday against Buena Vista College.  MNU came out strong and was able to score their first goal of the game within 5 minutes of kickoff.  “It was great to see the girls put it all together today," said Coach Orton. "They came out strong and got up early.” Rebecca McAndrew played a nice combination with Alyssa Howard and Alyssa ended up being 1-on-1 with the goal keeper and was able to finish the first goal of the game.  Freshman Kinzey Chavez added the second goal just minutes later off an Alyssa Howard corner kick.  The third goal again came minutes later as Rebecca McAndrew added her name to the score sheet.  Rebecca scored her second of the game 3 minutes later.  Emily Bean finished off the scoring 6 minutes later to make it 5-0 in the first 25 minutes of the game.  “We really worked hard in practice  this week and it really came together this weekend.  We made some adjustments with our forwards and it really opened up the game.  I was very proud of how our team played this weekend.  All of our players got to play and gain valuable experience before we start conference next week.” said Orton.

The win move MNU to 2-3-1 on the season and the next game is September 22nd at home vs Ottawa University.
