Alistair Hughes

Alistair Hughes joined MNU in the Fall of 2022 as a volunteer assistant coach.  He was promoted to the graduate assistant position in 2023.  He is currently finishing his MSM degree while assisting in all aspects of the men's program.  In 2023, Coach Alistair helped lead the Pioneers to their first NAIA National Championship.  For this incredible accomplishment, he was named to the United Soccer Coaches Staff-of-the-Year.  

A product of Glasgow, Scotland, Coach Hughes came to the United States to pursue his education while on a soccer scholarship.  He started his playing career at Harcum College (NJCAA D1).  After two successful years, he transferred to Bloomfield College (NCAA D2).  Coach Alistair graduated from Bloomfield in 2019 with a Business degree.  He moved back to Scotland for a short spell while working in the Banking industry.  He returned to the US in 2022 and moved to Kansas City where he joined the Pioneers.  

Alistair also coaches for Toca FC, a youth soccer club in KC with over 1000 players.  He is also the assistant coach for the Sunflower State FC Women's team that plays in the WPSL.  He and his wife, Mia, live in Olathe, Kansas.
