Phil Groves

Entering his 15th season of college coaching with of experience at the NCAA D-I, D-II, NAIA, and NJCAA levels, Phil Groves has helped athletes excel at every level from youth and high school through the professional ranks across all event disciplines.
 
During his coaching tenure he has coached more than 40 All-Americans in the throws, jumps, combined events and sprints. Athletes under his guidance have won 7 collegiate national titles, finished in the top 3 nationally more than 15 times and he has mentored athletes who have won their country’s national championship on 6 different occasions. Groves has helped guide athletes to collegiate national championships in the javelin (twice), hammer throw (twice), weight throw and shot put (twice), and helped Caniggia Raynor win the 2012 Jamaican Olympic Trials in the hammer throw in only his first year competing in the event. Groves has also led multiple athletes to top-5 performances at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships and coached high jumper Bayo Adio to 2 Nigerian national championships. Groves has also assisted with the development of athletes who went on to the NFL and Olympic Games.
 
In addition to his work with collegiate and professional athletes, Groves has aided numerous high school and youth athletes to state, conference, and Junior Olympic titles and national rankings. Additionally, he teaches college courses in exercise physiology and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
