Last Chance Qualifier Recap

Maryville, MO – In the final meet of the regular season, MNU took a handful of athletes to Northwest Missouri State University to battle NCAA Division II teams whose athletes were looking for a final chance at qualifying for their MIAA Conference meet as well as Nationals. The Pioneer few were guaranteed great competition to spur them on.

Responding to the competition, four of the six Pioneers set personal bests ranging from the 60 meter dash to the 3000 meter run.

Leading the charge, freshman Elijah Bergin gave it his all to grab the first personal best of the meet, doing so in the 60 meter dash. Sophomore Ian Hanson responded in kind by pushing his body through the onslaught of lactic acid in the grueling 400 meter dash.

The distance runners started their events with sophomore Jackson Elsey enduring the mental and physical fatigue of a 3000 meter race to capture his best time. Following him, Gracie Enochs explored the realm of VO2max racing with a strong performance in the mile, also setting a personal record.

Though it was a small group, the Pioneer athletes took advantage of the meet as each gave their best.
