MNU Pioneer Athletic Association Membership

The purpose of the Pioneer Athletic Association is to:

- Promote, support and encourage MidAmerica Nazarene University by supporting MNU athletics and student athletes.

- Assist in the financial support of athletic programs, athletic facilities and scholarships for student-athletes at MNU.

- Actively participate by your attendance at university athletic events.

Your gift can be unrestricted to support all 8 teams at MNU, or it may be restricted to a specific sport or sports.

Gifts may also be earmarked by the Athletic Office for Athletic Endowments, athletics facilities projects or any other specific need that may arise.

Depending on your giving level, donors are entitled to certain benefits, including priority seating, preferred parking, and more. To become a donor, simply complete the enclosed donor form and remit to the address provided. Acquiring new season tickets, adding additional season ticket and/or upgrading existing season tickets are each addressed through a combined effort of the Pioneer Athletic Association and Athletics Ticket Office. Membership in PAA requires a minimum donation of $50 per household.

Ticket Requests

Every ticket request – for each sport – is ranked in priority order within each annual giving level and reviewed one request at a time and is based on a first come first served basis. Every request is reviewed in the same manner. You must make additional ticket and/or upgrade request in writing-either by writing specifics directly on your season ticket application, by attaching a letter to your application.

When the regular season ticket renewal deadline has passed, all non-renewed tickets are placed in inventory and made available for distribution. Then, request for tickets and/or upgrades are addressed and if a new ticket location is successfully secured, your new tickets will be mailed with all other season tickets.

Because all ticket requests are ranked and reviewed in priority point order within annual giving level, making a donation to the Pioneer Athletic Association remains the best way to acquire or improve season tickets. These donations to the Pioneer Athletic Association are non-refundable as your gift provides charitable support to MNU student-athletes.

Combination Requests Should you choose to "pool" your contributions with other alumni/friends, please be aware that the PAA can only recognize one individual from the group as the contact person and only the contact person will receive Priority Points and the associated benefits listed.

Ticket Loyalty Points At the conclusion of the 2008-09 academic year, MNU recognized its long-term season ticket holders with a one-time addition to the priority point total. A scale and a priority point “deposit” was made to PAA accounts based on a patron’s consecutive years of purchasing tickets. Each account was analyzed and the addition was made to each account.

Employer’s Matching Gift

If you or your spouse’s employer is a matching gift company, you may be able to double your gift to MidAmerica Nazarene University. PAA membership fees and seat purchases are generally not eligible for employer matching. Contact your human resources office to obtain complete eligibility requirements and necessary forms.

Tax Deductibility

As a result of your contribution to the Pioneer Athletic Association, you have the right to purchase priority seating for athletic events. Therefore, the amount of your contribution is 80% deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for details (IRS Code Section 170[1]).

Waiver of Benefits*

To deduct 100 percent of your contribution to the Pioneer Athletic Association, you must request in writing a waiver of benefits at the time you make a contribution. A waiver of benefits precludes you from receiving rights to any goods or services in exchange for a contribution. In requesting a waiver of benefits, you acknowledge that you are forfeiting priority points for your gift as well as any benefits associated with the respective membership level. Once priority points are relinquished, they cannot be credited retroactively to your account. Please insert your initials in the “waiver of benefits” box shown on the Membership Information form that’s part of the printed PAA brochure and the online Membership Form.

Point System

The Priority Point System will consider both annual and cumulative contributions to determine seat locations for all PAA members. This process will allocate years first based on current year’s giving level and then priority points within that level.

- Donations will count on the calendar year that ends before you renew/join. Example: this year’s points will be based off of giving in the 2008 year

- All PAA donations received in a current giving year are awarded one point per dollar given.

- Ticket Loyalty Points - 50 points for every consecutive year of PAA ticket purchases since its inception in 1999.
