Rocky Lamar to be Inducted into NAIA Hall of Fame

MNU Men's Basketball coach Rocky Lamar will be inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in the 2013-14 season. Induction into the NAIA Hall of Fame, and the ensuing title of Hall of Famer, is the highest individual honor bestowed by the Association.

Coach Lamar has been at the helm of MNU since 1986 and has racked up 639 victories.

"I am humbled and honored by the NAIA for inducting me into the Hall of Fame," says Coach Lamar. "I have been blessed to have years of support from family, administration, assistants, and great players!"

Under Rocky, the Pioneers have accomplished the following:
- 12 HAAC championships
- 8 HAAC Tournament titles
- 16 National Tournament appearances
- 13 Sweet Sixteens
- 10 Elite Eight appearances
- 5 Fab Four appearances (including 4 straight from 06-09)
- 1 National Runner-Up (2001)
- 1 National Championship (2007)

Rocky is a member of the Greater KCBCA Hall of Fame (08) and the MNU Athletics Hall of Fame (84). He was named NABC NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2007. And he has been named HAAC Coach of the Year six times.

"We are very proud of our own Rocky Lamar for his induction into the NAIA Hall of Fame," says MNU Director of Athletics Kevin Steele. "Those of us in Pioneer Nation have long known that Rocky is a true Hall of Famer as a man and a coach. It is wonderful that now the rest of the nation has recognized what we have known all along. It is a great honor for him and well-deserved. As his AD, it is a privilege to work along side him every day. Also, we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge Rocky's lifetime assistant, Jo, and the important part she has played in Rocky's Hall of Fame career."
