The following coaches/athletes have been selected as 2010 MNU Hall of Fame inductees. There will be a Hall of Fame banquet during Homecoming Weekend on Friday, October 22 at noon, and they will be honored at halftime of the football game the following day.
Curt Ammons - Cross Country/Track & Field Coach
Coach Ammons has been the head Cross Country and Track coach for over fifteen years. He has been involved in both for over 40 years at either the high school or collegiate level. Coach Ammons also served as a longtime football assistant at MNU, serving as the Defensive Coordinator for 11 years. Coach Ammons' teams have been the most successful in school history. As of 2008, the men's Cross Country team has won five of the last six HAAC championships and has been to nationals six of the last seven years. The women's Cross Country team is the two-time defending HAAC champions and has been to nationals each of the last three years.
John Booth - Football Player
John Booth dominated the conference in his time at MNU. He was a 2002 & 2004 All-Conference Honoree, and the 2004 Conference MVP. His dominance extended as a passer and a runner as he passed for 4,250 yards and 42 touchdowns, and ran for 3,037 yards and 35 touchdowns. He set an MNU single-season rushing record in 2003 with 1,442 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was signed as a receiver by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2004 despite never having played the position prior to the workout. Booth also played for the champion Amsterdam Admirals in NFL-Europe. He coached at MNU for 2 years; serving as wide receivers coach, JV Offensive Coordinator, and weightlifting coach.
Tom Cross - Strength & Conditioning Coach
Coach Tom Cross founded the MNU Strength & Conditioning program in 1996. He built the program around Olympic style lifting and his techniques are still being implemented today. He was named Master Strength & Conditioning Coach from the CSCA in 2004: the most prestigious award in the field. He was also named FCA Coach of the Year in 2004. Cross has been asked to speak at the CSCA national conference for four straight years. Every year he teaches several weight lifting certification courses to coaches all over the country. Since retiring from MNU he has been an active volunteer in the weight room and is present at many sporting events, home and away.
Kareecia Thompson - Track & Field Athlete
Kareecia Thompson was an NAIA Indoor Track & Field All American in 2002, 2003, and 2005 where she competed in the 60m high hurdles and 60m dash. She was an NAIA Outdoor Track & Field All American in 2002 and 2004 where she competed in the 100m hurdles, 100m dash, and 4x100m relay.
Bob Henige - Men's Basketball Player
In his one season at MNU, Bob Henige was dominant. He was named Conference MVP, Newcomer of the Year, District Player of the Year, and NAIA All American while averaging 24.5 ppg and 12.5 rpg. Coach Rocky Lamar credits Henige for the national prominence of MNU basketball. Prior to Henige, MNU was suffering through 10 consecutive losing seasons, had zero conference championships, and zero NAIA Tournament appearances. Since Henige's season, MNU has had zero losing seasons, 11 conference championships, and 15 NAIA Tournament appearances. He is generally considered the most talented player in MNU history. He was named one of Olathe's top 150 athletes of all time, and he played professionally in Germany.
