Olathe, KS- The Heart of America Conference announced today that
Penny Eastman has been named the Pitcher of the Week while
Jennifer Costa has been named the Player of the week. This is Eastman's 3rd Pitcher of the Week Award and Costa's 2nd Player of the Week Award. Costa also has 4 Pitcher of the Week Awards along with 1 NAIA National Pitcher of the Week Award.
Eastman, a 6-foot pitcher from Loveland, CO went 2-0 on the week with 2 complete games against Bethany College(KS) and Benedictine College(KS). In 14 innings of work Eastman surrendered 2 hits while giving up a lone unearned run. She walked 7 while striking out 26. On the season Eastman moves to 17-3 and has a HAAC leading 1.14 ERA and HAAC leading 235 strikeouts in 128.2 innings.
Costa, a 6-foot pitcher from Escalon, CA went 8 for 12 on the week hitting .667 with 5 Runs, 4 RBIs, 2 HRs, BB, and a SB. Costa's 2 homeruns gives her a HAAC leading 16 for the season and also leads the HAAC in AVG .500, Runs 50, RBI 55, TB 134, and SLG % .985.
