Penny Eastman threw 7 shutout innings vs. Pt. Loma on Saturday, but the Pioneers couldn't push across any runs and fell in the eighth. Eastman scattered 3 hits in regulation and was able to work out of a couple jams, but MNU managed just 2 singles and only had 2 runners in scoring position all game. In the top of the eighth, Pt. Loma managed a leadoff walk and stolen base. Two outs later, PLNU's Jenel Guadagno doubled deep to left field to bring home the run and take a 1-0 lead. The Pioneers went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning, and fell to 0-2 in pool play. Brianna Payne (1-3) and Ashley Salter (1-3) got MNU's 2 hits.
The Pioneers are 45-8. The final game of the year is Monday at 9:00 AM vs. Ottawa (27-9).
