Softball Takes the HAAC Crown

MNU and Lindenwood are co-HAAC champions

Olathe, KS~In a year of record setting the MNU Sofball Program has grabbed another record by capturing the coveted Heart of America Title with their 17-3 record in HAAC play.  Lindenwood University swept their final double header to grab a share of that crown with an identical 17-3 record.  For MNU it is the 1st HAAC Softball crown in school history.  MNU has finished 2nd place in 2004 under Coach Krystal Kennard and 2006, and 2007 under Coach Babinski.  Coach Babinski this year has becoming the winningest coach in MNU history and now adds the elusive 1st place trophy to his resume.  "This team is something special," says Babinski, "Character has been our foundation.  We have girls whose character and integrity have propelled them to work harder and get to the next level in their game.  Most of these kids are better than they've ever been because of their tireless work ethic.  I am truly blessed to lead such a group and this is a group that deserves the title."

MNU now enters the post season starting this Friday at 6 & 8 pm against Benedictine College.  This is the beginning of the HAAC 1st Round.  MNU and BC will play 2 games out of a best-of-3 series.  If a 3rd game is needed then they will suit up Saturday at 2pm.  The winner will advance to the 2nd round on May 4th and 5th at a TBA location.  The Championship round will be May 7th and 8th also at a TBA location.  The winner of that championship round will represent the Heart of America Conference at Nationals held in Decatur, AL May 20th-26th.
