Softball Win Streak at 18

MNU record 18 in a row

Olathe, KS - Looking back to March 29th before the second game against Evangel University, nobody could've predicted what was on the horizon in the ensuing weeks. The MNU Softball team was sitting at 19-5 after losing Game 1 to Evangel with their HAAC Conference record going to 2-3. The Pioneers bounced back from a game one loss to win a 1-0 pitching duel win which started the streak. The next four weeks would bring 18 straight wins, 15 vs. HAAC opponents, making the Pioneers 37-5 with a 17-3 HAAC record.

In the 18 game streak the Pioneers have outscored their opponents 106-16, have out hit them 168-50, and the MNU pitchers won the strikeout battle 196 to 52. During the 18 games MNU pitching has had one perfect game, three no-hitters and six 1-hitters. During the stint MNU Softball players have won 5 of the 6 HAAC Player/Pitcher of the Week Awards. In the last 2 NAIA National rankings the Pioneers have captured the #30 slot and moved up to the #27 slot. The best National ranking MNU has ever experience is #25 back in 2006 when the Pioneers posted a 38-10 record.

MNU awaits HAAC play to finish this weekend before seeding is revealed for their post season. MNU is currently sitting at the #2 seed in the conference. If Lindenwood drops 1 of the 2 games this weekend vs. Missouri Valley, the Pioneers will move up to the #1 seed in the conference tournament.

Come and see MNU try to extend their winning streak with non-conference home double headers on Monday April 26th vs. Bethany College at 4:00 and Tuesday April 27th against Kansas Wesleyan at 4:00. See you at the field!
