After a tough weekend playing in the MNU Invitational, MNU bounced back to tie #18 Oklahoma Christian University on Friday.
Rebecca McAndrew opened up the scoring on the penalty kick.
Alyssa Howard was brought down in the box which created the opportunity. "We played really well today," said Coach Orton. "It was great to see how we bounced back from a tough weekend to respond so well."
Oklahoma Christian equalized right before half time on a shot inside the box that beat perfectly in the corner. Then OCU came out really strong in the second half. "They came out really aggressive," said Orton. "OC really took it to us and ended up creating the go-ahead goal. We responded really strong and
Rebecca McAndrew created another penalty kick. The goalkeeper made a good save but McAndrew followed up the rebound and tied the game. We created some great opportunities in the overtime periods but were unlucky to not score the winner." The game ended after two overtimes with the score knotted at two.
MNU at 1-3-1 on the season. The next game is Saturday at the Baker Invitational vs. Buena Vista College at 12pm.
